We ask patients to consider postponing their appointment if it is for a routine skin check. During the current lockdown period commencing Thursday 5th August for the Newcastle, Hunter Valley region, we are unable to accept new patients unless they have been referred by their GP.

Following NSW Health COVID 19 guidelines, we ask all patients to wear a mask during their appointment. Please put these on upon entering the clinic and do not remove them until you have exited the building. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

The health and safety of our staff and our patients is our priority. To enable us to continue to deliver skin checks and treatment, and to protect their health, if you have;

  • Returned from or been in a NSW Health listed exposure site in the past 14 days;
  • Have cold or flu like symptoms;

  • Are awaiting COVID-19 test results;

  • Have been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days;

  • If you reside with a person who is under self-isolation due to returning from travel or has flu like symptoms;

Please do not attend our clinic. If you have an upcoming appointment and answer yes to any of the above, please phone our clinic on 4032 8700 to reschedule your appointment.

If you have an upcoming appointment, we have put the following measures in place upon arrival to our clinic:

  • Check in with our reception staff upon arrival;

  • Once you have checked in, you will be asked to return to your car and advised via SMS when you are able to enter the clinic for your appointment;

  • Please stand behind the tape and screens. This is to protect our staff and ensure their safety;

  • You will be asked the above 5 questions. Please note, you will be asked to leave the clinic should you answer yes to any of the above. We strongly advise you phone our clinic to reschedule prior to your appointment if you are unwell;

  • Our Reception team will take your temperature prior to you seeing the Doctor so it is important you check in with them upon your arrival. As we come into summer, we ask if you arrive early for your appointment, to not wait in your car as this will increase your body temperature causing our thermometer to alarm;

  • Dependent on number of people within our clinic, after you check in with Reception, you may be asked to wait in your car until your appointment time. Our reception team will call you when the doctor is ready;

  • Only patients will be allowed into our clinics. Any family or friends will be asked to wait outside of the clinic or in their cars. We understand there will be times where a carer or guardian must be present, we ask you please speak with our reception team for further guidance. If you require your carer to attend, please phone reception to advise of this. A record of any other person attending will be kept for tracking purposes.

Should I attend my appointment?

If you are unsure whether you should attend your appointment;

  • You can phone our reception team on 4032 8700 and speak with a staff member for guidance;

  • If you have a spot of concern, you can take a clear, focused photo of the spot and email this through to info@newcastleskincheck.com.au or text the details to 0492 891 019. We will have one of our doctors review and advise whether you should attend an appointment in clinic. If you wish to send a photo, please take this in a well lit area and ensure the camera is focused on the spot of concern.

There are many things you can do to help stop the spread and protect your health and safety. Visit https://preview.nsw.gov.au/covid-19 for further information.

What we are doing here at Newcastle Skin Check

The team at Newcastle Skin Check is dedicated to trying to provide a safe environment for our staff and our patients. We have put several measures in place to help protect those within our clinics:

  • Every patient who phones for an appointment or attends our clinic is asked several screening questions;

  • Each staff member is screened each day upon arrival for their shift;

  • All of our doctors are using the appropriate PPE to protect themselves;

  • Hand sanitiser readily available for staff members and patients;

  • All of our staff are being retrained in hand washing technique;

  • All staff are practicing Social Distancing;

  • We have reduced our waiting room capacity;

  • We have longer appointment times to allow for the consulting room to be sanitised;

  • Any non-urgent appointments have been postponed to a later date;

  • Where possible, our doctors are teleconferencing with patients to minimise exposure.
